Taking it easy getting a few things done and enjoy this wonderful weather.

Where are we today ?
Just another great day and gonna be a hot one about 91f (33c). So early walkabout shortly after 7 am to the west end of the park. A few crews of workers are busy harvesting broccoli, cabbage and lettuce, three huge fields on the go.
We had contemplated going to the Yuma Air show today, in was close and it was free. But with the temps over 90f no shade, huge crowds expected and high winds, we decided probably better to stay home do laundry and enjoy our books.
broccoli here stacking in crates on the wagons
lots of wagons coming in
sure keeps these guys busy
transportation and washrooms follow the workers
more tractors ready to work
irrigating more lettuce
After an early grocery run , more walkabouts and chat with a few neighbors we can have a quick lunch and enjoy our books in the shade.
neighbor has this 1956 ford, very similar to the one I had,
in excellent shape, we chatted along time
We had shade and it was very warm but high winds over 20 mph (32kph), sure glad we did not go to the air show today. Our neighbors had been to the air show and said it was very hot, windy, dusty and some stunts could not be done because of the wind.
wind in the palm trees
In order to fire up our Weber Q needed to set up my wind screen. Then whipped up some sweet potatoes in foil with apples and cinnamon oh so good for the recipe go here  .
couple boneless chops and fresh asparagus
did the trick
Need to get as much of this fresh produce as we can before we leave here. Fresh local strawberries to were really great so sweet.
Nice easy relaxing day getting a few chores done is wonderful.
Thanks for stopping by to check us out.

  1. They held an air show here today but they were expecting over 100,000 people and there is just no way. It got really windy also. Definitely need to get as much of that produce as you can.

    1. Too bad about the wind, otherwise , stay home and eat more fresh produce and enjoy our books.

  2. We've had quite a bit of wind too. It's gone now and hopefully will stay gone. Your temperatures are a tad too hot for us even with the air conditioning and even with low humidity. I want the perfect temperature but am discovering that's hard to find.

    1. We only turn on our air conditioner after dinner for a bit just to cool things done for bedtime. We spent the days outside in the shade, love it.

  4. Best you have your long undies handy for when you cross the border. I just checked the southern Ontario forecast and it still doesn't look good.

  5. It has been windy....but, happily, when the wind blows and we head into Palm Desert, very little wind finds its way there.

  7. I'm surprised those cool weather veggies do well in the high heat, but they obviously do. Our asparagus should start poking through the ground soon and I'm looking forward to it.

  8. I think we have a huge wind area, the sand is kicking up all along the beach here. Love the heat though, just not the dust.

  9. Nothing like a little sand with your pork chops, George! I'm sure your wind fence took care of that as the dinner on the Q looked great as usual.

    1. Wind fence took care of it, and too much sand on the chops.

  11. Wind and sand definitely aren't a good mix. It's quite breezy here too!

Those are huge fields of broccoli and lettuce which keep lots of people employed.
