Stair way to heaven? not too sure.....

Where are we today ?
Tres Rios Resort, Glen Rose Texas
Guess what another great day and what do we have planned? Nothing! And that's just what we gonna do.
Well, a few walkabouts, chat with people, putter around and that kinda stuff. Hiking about found this beautiful stone stairway. Is this the stairway to heaven?  Or was there a house here at some time in the past. Nice stone fire place in the background could have been part of this house?
Stairway to heaven or an old house ?
Any who found another trail down by the river so explored here for a while and came out at the other end on the resort. So peaceful along this trail.
The end of the trail came out by the cabin "the Gas Station", looks like and old gas station, not sure if it really was though.
I did some minor repairs on our favourite lawn chairs hoping we can get a few more miles out of them, and we can do what we love best. Read our books outside in this awesome warm weather. Until time to begin cooking super.
Fired up our Weber Q to bake a couple taters, grill two smoked pork chops (found in our freezer) and a small caesar salad to finish off supper.
sure hit the spot and a few leftovers too
Not too exciting but worked perfect for us, no need to head out and explore on this busy weekend, maybe tomorrow for a bit.
The resort was amazingly quiet for so many families here this weekend, we really enjoy quiet days.
Thank y'all for stopping by today and enjoying this awesome with us again, hope you had a good one too!

Hot, sunny, lazy day, yes we do enjoy this lifestyle.

Where are we today ?
Cold last night good for sleeping, but our water hose froze again! Now problem we have fresh water in our tank. Only a bit because by 9 am the sun hit the hose and we have water again.
After the coffees and computing the sun came up and got a few walkabouts done. The cook Kyle has fired up the smoker to smoke some pork loins to make pulled pork for supper tonight here in the park. Sorry but for $9.00 each we can make our own, still have cooked pork in our freezer.
smells good though
I made a quick road trip into Granbury for a few food items, (no Black friday stuff, that's not our style, besides nothing we need), then back home to whip up brunch. Suzie was craving a breakfast casserole (recipe here). I down sized the recipe for just the  two of us and worked out perfect. 1 sausage, 4 eggs, two shredded potatoes, a bit of sautéed onion and a hand full of shredded cheese. Sure hit the spot.
nice brunch today
With another hot sunny afternoon, we enjoyed our books for a while, then gave myself a haircut and beard trim, (with Suzie doing the finishing touches). We are enjoying more wonderful weather, actually kinda loving it.
A couple we met the other day at the Thanksgiving dinner that are fulltime stopped by on their bicycle ride to chat for a while and get some info about camping in Ontario. They plan on spending some time there this summer and are looking for places to explore. They have a class A motorhome and a nice boat that they tow behind, no car just two bicycles. We are not boat people, but did give them a few ideas on places to go.
a wonderful sunny day it was
Now before it gets dark gotta fire up our Weber Q to grill a couple marinated boneless chicken breasts. To add to a nice creamy broccoli pasta dish I made.
chicken breast on the Q
tasty broccoli chicken noodles, hit the spot
Guess what? Before we know it another day is done ! Where did it go? No matter, we did enjoy it, time sure flies when we are having fun right?
Like to thank you once again for stopping by to see what us retired people do when we have a chance. Hope you had a great day too.

Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful relaxing day here.

Where are we today ?
The usual, up early waiting for the sunrise, but we can check emails and drink coffee until that happens. Then begin my walkabouts. Down by the rivers first thing, the sun is rising and showing a wonderful morning sky.
top right you can see the moon at the same time as
the sunrise, too cool !
A little later enjoyed another walkabout along the trails down by the river, so peaceful, birds squawking, squirrels all over the place, cows mooing, babbling brook, nice and warm and no wind. What's not to love about this?
so peaceful
It is Thanksgiving here today and a pretty quiet day. We did the huge meal and get together yesterday at the club house and was wonderful.
So today with sunshine, figured it's a good day to do laundry. Suzie sorts the stuff an I take it to the laundry in the park. Nobody there! Great, but after our wash was done other people show up too thinking the same. Busy day for laundry. Well the machines did the work and I read my book. Two loads all washed and dried the back home in time for a quick bite for lunch.
Now all the chores done, more walkabouts then we can enjoy a very hot day on the sun enjoying our books. Love this weather. We were in full sun (90 f) so shorts and t shirts does it. Couple of people stop by to chat and thats just fine.
Today Suzie would like BBQ'd pork ribs, so I get to fire up our Weber Q again (its been a few days) Wrapped up my ribs in foil with sauerkraut on low for about 90 minutes.
a perfect sunny afternoon
low and slow is the trick
Then throw on taters in foil with onions for another 45 minutes. Last 15 minutes ribs on the grill with our favourite sticky rib sauce. Fall off the bone tender, tasty and sticky, just the way we love our ribs.
done to perfection
taters, ribs, kraut and steamed broccoli
sure hit the spot
Now supper is done and of course we have leftovers, nice for alight lunch.
That was our Thanksgiving Day, and suited us to a T. Friends dropping by for a visit was awesome too.
Thanks for the visit and hope yours was a wonderful day too.

Sunny, warmer and an early Thanksgiving dinner.

Where are we today ?
Well here it is again a wonderful sunny pretty warm day up to 55 f. Was 20 f overnight but not windy, good for sleeping. After morning coffees and computing the sun rose to a clear blue sky and things warmed up real quick.
My first morning walkabout by the river enjoyed the shadows and the birds in the trees.
But then I followed my nose over to this wonderful aroma of a turkey being smoked by one of the cabins. Awe, there it is, the smoker fired up and the cook Kyle camped out for the night (in a cabin) with his family tending to this wonderful smoked bird.
smells so good and almost done
Then a bit later a walkabout down along the river trail, so peaceful and quite. Even spotted a couple deer running along the ridge on the other side of the river.
nice trails
Today here in the resort is our Thanksgiving get together (a day early) from noon until 3 pm.  The resort here supplied the smoked turkey, two deep fried turkeys, a huge ham, gravies, coffee, tea, plates and utensils. The rest of us brought pot luck dishes. From salads, potatoes, vegetables, cornbread stuffing, baked beans, and casseroles etc..., not to mention all of the tasty deserts. Our contribution was 4 dozen "King's Hawaiian Sweet rolls" they are oh so good.
We had two Canadian Thanksgiving get togethers with family back in October. And then we can do it once again while we tour the Southern states in the winter, aren't we lucky!
Our activity director lighting the candles
lots of great food
I had a few samples it was awesome
and I did not have to cook.
Now I am not a desert eater, but this homemade one looked quite interesting so had to give it a little try (as if I needed more food). Not sure what it was but very light and had mainly blueberries and pineapple with a light topping, no crust, a very interesting taste combination.
a pretty good turnout today
We sat at the end, met a few other couples and chatted getting acquainted sharing rv stories for a couple of hours while enjoying this great Thanksgiving meal. There was more than enough food and over 60 people there to enjoy it too. Most of the people here in the campground, pretty good turn out for off season camping.
tasty deserts
Glad we walked to and from the hall a good 5 minutes each way, needed to walk off a bit of lunch on the way home. Then a few other walkabouts this afternoon too, between chapters of our books.
We got back home shortly after 2 pm and were able to spend a couple of hours enjoying our books outside on a beautiful warm sunny afternoon with no wind. Chatted with a few people as they strolled by and watched the wagon ride pass us by a few times, taking people around the resort.
wagon ride
Now as the sun begins to set the air cools down so time to migrate inside. Read and compute a bit more (no supper tonight again). The awesome Thanksgiving lunch was more than enough for today.
Thanks for stopping on by today and we would like to wish all of our American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.

A bit warmer and SUNSHINE yeah !!!!!

Where are we today ?
Still cool here but we have SUNSHINE! And boy do we like the sun, sure makes you feel good after a quite few days without it.
Got a few walkabouts this morning, other than the cool breeze all was good here. Then we decided a good day for a trip Granbury Texas (20 minutes) pick up a few items we cannot find here. Check out a couple book exchanges but no deals to be had here. Checked out the historic downtown but a little cool for a walkabout and we did this area the last time we were here. And as you know Suzie hates shopping.
So gassed up the car, and stopped at the H.E.B grocery store to check it out. This a huge store that has everything we needed and more, puts the Walmart to shame. So picked up some good deals here and then to Spirits of Granbury for some "adult beverages".
Back home a bite to eat for lunch, walkabout then we can sit outside in the sun (out of the wind) and enjoy our books for a couple hours, we love reading our books out side.
a beautiful sunny day
walking trails by the river, right beside us
a nice sunny spot here
As the sun went behind the trees time to retreat inside and think about supper. Easy one tonight, same as last night. Left over meat pie and a fresh made caesar salad.
our sunshine is going away
Supper done and even better than last night, the rest of our meat pie is going in the freezer for another meal on the road in a week or so.  For the meat pie recipe you can click here it is so easy.
hit the spot
That was it for another fun day here in Texas, sunshine, fresh air, exercise, some wonderful reading time and another tasty meal.
Thanks for stopping by again, tomorrow we are having an early pot luck Thanksgiving meal here at the resort.

So nice to have friends drop in this afternoon and a great visit!

Where are we today ?
Hey we did have a great day here or what! No weather stuff to complain about anyway.  No snow, no rain, no wind and no sunshine, but not too bad at all. Got lotsa walkabouts today, here, there and everywhere. Down by the rivers and around the resort sure was nice.
nice trails by one of the rivers,
we have three here!
another fireplace I found
After a great day outside, then we began to enjoy reading our books for a while. Mid afternoon we had visitors! What a surprise, Dick and Raye Walsh. We had met them March 1st 2011 in Rock Port Texas, friends of another couple we know  Bill and Carol. We spent time with them in Goderich Ontario and Rock Glen resort, summer 2012 and they ended up right here in this resort in Glen Rose Texas. Such a small world it is. Dick is great musician and entertainer, too bad we did not have time to listen to his stories and ballads today.
Now so nice to meet up with this wonderful couple again and catch up,  chat and chat until the afternoon was winding down. They had to finish their laundry (it had been going for about two hours). They are heading out in the morning to south Texas for a work camper obligation that they have.
Dick, Suzie, Raye and me
For supper tonight we thinking lets use up our left over pot roast. So checked the fridge and found taters, veggies, roast beef, gravy, frozen veggies, celery and onions. Frozen pie crust from the store and we have a beef pot pie for supper.
Add to that a caesar salad and we have a very tasty supper, perfect for a cool fall evening.
Before we know it the day is done. And a wonderful day it was, where did the time go?
We had a great day, hope yours was too.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit, nice to see y'all again.
