Sun. Ocvt. 24th 2010 Clarence Centre New York

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Good morning yes thats us!

Well after a very wet and muddy saturday afternoon and evening, sunday morning was much warmer  and sunny, but still very muddy. The six of us were invited to breakfast with another group of rver's that we knew, so off we went at 8:45 am to Gordie Harper's Bazaar in Newfane New York, about 20 minutes away. An excellent breakfast, with homemade breads and sauces good value too. I had a monster looking breakfast of eggs benedict and Suzie bacon, eggs, homefries and toast. Attached to the restaurant was a maze of shops with a great selection of stuff! Good stuff, craft stuff, food stuff, antique stuff, old stuff, new stuff, clothing stuff, just all kinds of stuff.

Back to the campground we all packed up in the mud and then followed Bill and Barb to their country place about 20 minutes away in Clarence Centre NY. We parked our coach in their driveway, and opened up our awnings to dry out then joined them in their very comfortable living room relaxing with the dogs, our computers, a large screen tv and of course a Buffalo Bills football game. (which they lost to Baltimore 37-34 in overtime).

After the game they took us to Duffs Famous Wings in Amherst New york a short drive away. This is the original location that opened in 1946 and served their first batch of the soon famous wings in 1969. Always a very busy place so they put their name on the list and we waited outside about 30 minutes. The atmosphere itself is definitely original retro, with low ceilings a small room and tables with wood panelling on the walls.  Well the menu was great but we came for the wings so we ordered a wing special of 20 wings, a large fry and a large pitcher of Beer only $24.90. What a deal compared to home where we get only a dozen wings and large fry for about the same price with out the beer. The beer was cold , the celery and carrots crunchy with blue cheese dip, hot crispy fries, wings cooked to perfection and I had the hot and suicide sauce on the side, very tasty, with a sufficient amount of heat.

With satisfied appetites we went back to their place to relax a bit with some chit chat, tv and then off to bed after a busy fun day with friends.
