Late summer

Don't forget to check out the interactive map at the bottom of the page, places we have visited Sat Sept. 27th Wow another week gone by and always busy. On Tuesday I found a Dentist in Parkhill to take care of my sore teeth. All better now!!! (gone). The weather has been awesome, sunny and warm. Thursday was darts again, and Saturday was an appreciation night for staff and volunteers. And because we volunteered to help out at the Western fair we went and enjoyed a free evening out, starting at 4:00pm with wine tasting, snacks, presentations, dinner, dance with a good band. It was a really nice time. sat pics Sat. Sept. 20th We drove to Teeswater for the IPM (International Plowing Match). We shared some free admission tickets supplied by Clare and had an awesome day walking about enjoying the sites and sounds. We sat to relax for a bit and watched a mini tractor pull, from stock garden tractors to very high powered custom tractors, this was followed by eight antique Farmall Tractors performing a Square Dance. The square dance was a lot of fun for the drivers,(dressed up in costumes and wigs) as well as the huge audience. Then on sunday following delicious roast chicken lunch we headed back to Rock Glen Resort in Arkona. IPM pics Fri. Sept. 19th We drove north with our coach to visit with Suzie's Uncle Clare and Kathy stopping for lunch at Point Clark lighthouse on Lake Huron a beautiful drive. And the huge windmills, (wind generators) along the way. We enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner and some catch up conversation that evening. And the company of their grand daughter Jessica. Point Clark Pics Thurs. Sept.18 Had a relaxing day and ordered Chinese food for Suzie's birthday, later that night we played darts and shared her birthday cake with our fellow dart players. pics Mon. Sept. 15th We ended up volunteering at the Western Fair for 3 days from 10:00am till 5:00pm. enjoying the sights and sounds even thou there was a lot of rain. Suzie managed to see a free Grandstand performance of the Good Brothers on Thursday, a bonus for her. We got back to Rock Glen saturday night just in time to get some roast pork and corn on the cob from the potluck dinner, yummy! Sunday morning was warm so we took a short drive to the Grand Bend Flea Market and to the deserted Beach in town, nice and quiet this time of year. On Monday morning Bob and Mary's new Park Model trailer was delivered and set up on their site, very nice 12ft X 40ft home, they will be very comfortable even in the winter months if they wish. Rock Glen pics Wed. Sept 10th Have been at Rock Glen Resort for 8 days now and enjoying the internet and local area. The campground is quiet finally, and the seasonal campers very friendly. We played darts last thursday and were at a couple of campfires. Wash the RV and do some cleaning and maintenance. Tonight a group of us are celebrating with a couple that we ran into in Georgia last spring, Jim and Eunice their 53rd wedding anniversary!!! For drinks and a campfire and cake. Tomorrow we are volunteering to run a booth at the Western Fair in London for Rock Glen, as well as Saturday, in turn we will receive free lunch and supper, extra camping and free wifi, plus we get to spend 2 days at the Fair all expenses paid!!! This is a good deal for us as well as the campground. Wed. Aug. 27th We returned to the farm for the long weekend and visited with some friends and family, then off Rock Glen in Arkona for a few weeks. Thurs. Aug. 21st We took a nice drive to visit and old family friend at his cottage on Deer lake. We had a nice lunch and he took us for a tour of the lake with interesting stories of the local cottages. Deer Lake pics Aug. 16th to 24th With 2 motor boats, 8 plus adults, 8 teenage kids and six dogs a lot of time was spent on the water. Water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, swimming and sun bathing and even some shopping and sightseeing was on the agenda and of course a huge campfire every night. The Peterboro Lift Lock is always popular. There were buckets of fish caught buy all who participated. With enough for 2 huge fish frys for more than a dozen people and lots of fish for everyone to take home. Bill had caught a large Pickerel (18 ½ in) but was topped later that week by Ron whose was about 22 in. more pics Fri. Aug. 15th Relaxing in the afternoon a knock on the door revealed friends Rob and Pat had pulled in behind us to camp, we did not know that they were coming, a nice surprise. They went to visit John and Barb at their cottage, East of Buckhorn and called us to join them for supper. When we returned the 3 other families had arrived from Hamilton and New York. Then on Sunday Dave and Sharry-lynn from Oshawa joined us too. pics Wed. Aug. 13th We arrived at Galvin Bay for a couple of relaxing days before the other campers showed up.
